President's Message: NASGW Expo Goes Big in Texas

Jun 14, 2017

I know we’ve just entered the summer season, and likely you’ve not thought a lot about what you’ll be doing in October. But I do want to encourage you to start thinking about this year’s NASGW Expo and Annual Meeting set for October 17-20 in San Antonio.
The convention center there has just recently been remodeled, and it’s a spectacular place to host our event. With the San Antonio Riverwalk just steps away, you’ll have all sorts of things to do when you’re not at the Expo. San Antonio in October should be just about perfect!

The show floor is officially SOLD OUT and we now have a waiting list for anyone who may like to join us. I hope you have your space reserved and your hotel rooms booked. Registration is also now open so you can reserve your badges.

True to its legend and reputation, the bigger in Texas ideal will transfer to our show this year. I feel like a broken record these past few years as our show continues to get bigger and better but that’s certainly the case for San Antonio.

Here are just a few of the ways this year’s show is growing bigger and better:

  1. Due to smashing success and overwhelming response, our “recharge” and “reload” lounges will be bigger than ever, so you’ll have plenty of space to sit down, stretch out and catch up with friends both old and new.
  2. The Awards Program is growing this year too… with the addition of a brand new set of awards. We’ll still have our traditional “Leadership Awards” to honor our strong wholesale partners… but we are adding a set of six new product awards called the “Caliber Awards.” Which, as the name suggests, will honor the highest caliber new products in six product categories including: best new rifle, handgun, shotgun, ammunition, optic and best new accessory. We’ll have an overall best new product award chosen from these six too. To qualify, member companies will need to submit their new products to the annual online NEW PRODUCT SHOWCASE and an independent panel of 18 industry judges will be selecting the award winners. Look for all the specific details on how to qualify and how to apply in the coming weeks.
  3. We’re also bringing back the NASGW Day at the Range, offering our manufacturers the opportunity for training of manufacturing reps, and to provide the wholesale buyers a chance to gain hands-on experience with new product offerings. This will take place on Tuesday, prior to the opening Awards Dinner event. Details on this are also coming very soon.
  4. Expo Exclusives – this special program for manufacturers to bring special deals only available during the NASGW Expo was such a hit last year, we’re bringing it back and will be growing this initiative too. If you’ve got a special product, and want to offer wholesalers a special one-time buy opportunity, we’ll be creating a special Expo Exclusive booklet to allow you to share this deal with our wholesale buyers.
  5. More opportunities for sponsorship and ways to make connections with your colleagues and clients.

I want to offer a special thank you to all those who’ve already been stepping up to sponsor various events. It is appreciated and it’s because of your generosity we are able to put on such a good show. We will be posting our complete list of sponsorship opportunities on the EXPO WEBSITE (www.nasgwexpo.org) in the coming days. We’ll be sure to let you know when we do.

There’s a lot happening behind the scenes as the summer moves along. While sometimes challenging, it’s an important time for the industry and for NASGW.

Finally, I hope you are able to spend some time away from work, especially during the upcoming July 4th holiday, to celebrate our nation’s independence and enjoy the freedoms we have in this country. I wish you all the best and will be in touch again soon.

Until next time,

Kenyon Gleason
NASGW President
