Chairman's Message: When Times Get Tough

Aug 30, 2017

As you all know this year’s NASGW Expo is scheduled for October 17th in San Antonio, Texas. And, if you have watched any news report over the last few days you’ve seen the devastation that has been left in the wake of Hurricane Harvey. The effort being put forth down here makes me proud of my home state.  Everyone I know is helping in some way with efforts in the flood region from collecting donations, transporting materials to running boats and clearing debris.  The impact has been tremendous but so has the response.  Texans, like any group, have our differences and challenges but when push comes to shove we band together quickly to help our neighbors.

Though the comparison is a bit different, I see a lot of similarities between my Texas community and the community of NASGW. In our industry, we are not rebuilding after a hurricane, but we do share a similar network of support. We are there to share responsibility in the supply chain, support retailers, provide credit to dealers, and manage inventories for our manufacturer partners. We get products into the hands of customers, and together we are stronger. We are a community and communities come together for each other. So, it couldn’t make me more proud for my NASGW community to come together in Texas in less than two months.

The Expo is going to be huge. The Awards Dinner will surely be a night to remember with the all new Caliber Awards, Range Day has exceeded all expectations so far, and we can’t forget just how crucial the Expo is to our industry. There is no better opportunity to get business done than at the NASGW Expo. So get ready!

As you spend the next month and a half preparing for your visit to Texas, please keep in mind that there are a lot of people along the coast who are going to need some help. You may not be a Texan, but we are all still in this together.

I can’t wait to see you all in my home state very soon.

Until next time,

Brad Burney
NASGW Chairman
