As we step into 2025, I’d like to wish you all a Happy New Year filled with promise and prosperity. The dawn of a new year is always a time of reflection, planning, and anticipation, and this year, it carries even more significance as we welcome a new president to office. Transitions in leadership inevitably spark changes, and while it’s too early to predict the full impact on the shooting sports industry, it’s clear that staying informed, united, and proactive will be key.
The inauguration of a new president is a pivotal moment for the nation, and for us, it’s a reminder of the importance of vigilance and collaboration. As advocates for the shooting sports industry, we must continue to monitor legislative developments, maintain a strong voice in Washington, and educate policymakers about the critical role our industry plays in supporting constitutional freedoms, economic growth, and outdoor heritage.
Looking ahead, I see opportunities for us to innovate and grow. The shooting sports industry has always been resilient, adapting to changing landscapes and finding ways to thrive. Whether it’s the surge in hunting participation, the growing interest in recreational shooting, or advancements in technology and manufacturing, there’s much to be optimistic about. Our ability to meet customer demand, foster partnerships, and promote responsible firearm ownership remains at the heart of our mission.
Another key moment for our industry is just around the corner: the 2025 SHOT Show in Las Vegas. This premier event, set to take place later this month, provides an unparalleled opportunity to connect, showcase new products, and discuss the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. Whether you’re attending as a manufacturer, wholesaler, retailer, or media partner, SHOT Show is the perfect venue to align our collective efforts and set the tone for a successful year. I encourage everyone to prepare thoughtfully, take advantage of networking opportunities, and engage in the important conversations shaping our future.
NASGW’s role in this ever-evolving industry has never been more crucial. We are committed to supporting our members by facilitating connections, driving efficiency through distribution, and providing the tools and resources needed to succeed. From advocating for two-step distribution to addressing supply chain challenges, our work is about ensuring that manufacturers, wholesalers, and retailers are well-positioned to navigate what lies ahead.
As we embark on this new chapter, I encourage each of you to remain engaged, informed, and focused on what makes our industry exceptional: its people. The passion, dedication, and camaraderie within the shooting sports community are unparalleled. Together, we have the strength to weather challenges, seize opportunities, and continue to promote the values we hold dear.
Here’s to a successful and prosperous 2025 for our industry. Let’s make it a year to remember—and I look forward to seeing many of you at SHOT Show!
Until next time,
Bill Sumner
