Chairman's Message:

Our Industry Starts with Engagement

Bill-Sumner-Headshot - 400x400

Last week, we wrapped up the NASGW Wholesaler Summit in Nashville, and I have to say it was time well spent. Bringing together many of our wholesale members gave us a valuable space to hear how things are going, learn about ways we can implement AI into our businesses and focus on the shared challenges we’re all facing.

That’s what makes NASGW such a valuable platform. It’s not just a trade group; it’s an association built specifically around the two-step distribution model. It exists to serve your needs, whether you're selling through wholesale channels or supporting them. But the effectiveness of NASGW depends entirely on one thing: engagement.

The more we participate in this organization, the more we all get out of it. I’ve seen it firsthand. Whether you’re attending the Summit, taking advantage of the tools, we’ve built like SCOPE or VAULT, or simply staying in touch with your fellow members, your involvement strengthens the entire supply chain.

SAF Celebrates 51 Years for Second Amendment Advocacy

Aug. 26, marked the Second Amendment Foundation’s (SAF) 51st anniversary, commemorating more than five decades dedicated to defending, securing and restoring the right to keep and bear arms.

Founded in 1974 by Alan M. Gottlieb, who now serves as the organization’s Executive Vice President, SAF is at the forefront of legal actions aimed at dismantling infringements on the Second Amendment rights of U.S. citizens. Over the past 50-plus years SAF has been part of more than 260 cases, significantly influencing the landscape of firearm freedoms nationwide.

Journalism or Activism?

Don’t be fooled. Antigun activists posing as “journalists” are letting the mask slip and revealing themselves for what they really are. They are paid shills for a total disarmament movement bent on erasing Second Amendment rights altogether.

Take, for instance, Mike Spies. Spies is a writer for The Trace. That’s the propaganda gun control mouthpiece for antigun billionaire Michael Bloomberg’s Everytown for Gun Safety. They’ve been exposed before. It’s no secret that The Trace isn’t “journalism.” At best, it’s advocacy. It pushes a gun control narrative.

Former ATF Official Joins Everytown

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) is the federal agency whose jurisdiction encompasses federal firearms laws. Its duties include enforcing the many criminal statutes in the U.S. Code pertaining to firearms, as well as licensing the businesses engaged in firearms commerce and regulating this network of federal firearm licensees (FFLs). The ATF also makes technical rulings that determine the conditions under which various firearms and related products are sold. Pro-gun America views ATF with, at best, wariness and suspicion.  But reforms under the Trump administration have led ATF in a less antagonistic direction, which, it seems, proved too much for one ATF executive who reportedly left the agency to pursue her true passion of firearm prohibition.
