President's Message:
I Get To

kenyon-headshot-2021-square-500

Successful people don’t have different problems, they have different solutions. And one of the best solutions is to make sure your worldview is a positive one.

Think about it… when you wake up each day, and take a look at what’s ahead of you, do you find yourself saying things like… I have to go to the store, I have to get the car serviced, I need to go to the doctor, I need to drop the kids off at school, etc.? Well you’re not alone, many people go about their days saying all sorts of things like this.

But over the years, I’ve learned that sometimes it’s the little things that make the difference, not just in what we do, but in how we view the things we do.

So now, replace the words “have” and “need” with “get” and see how you feel about all the things in your life. I get to take on a new day. I get to go to work today. I get to see my kids band concert. I get to spend time with my spouse. I get to mow my lawn. A little different feel there, isn’t it?

REMINDER: Changes to Expo Registration

As we prepare for the opening of the 2025 Expo registration in the next couple of weeks, we want to inform everyone that we have a new registration system in place and there are some new procedures that will need to be followed to register.

Each individual from your company that plans to attend Expo must have an active profile linked to your company's membership account.  The Expo registration site is connected to these profiles, and only individuals with a profile under your company’s membership, with an email from your company domain, will be eligible to register.  You will not be able to add individuals directly through the Expo registration site, only via the membership site. Your company's designated key contact will need to log in and add all individuals that will need to register for the Expo. They should have received an email from NASGW with instructions on how to add individuals to the company account.

If you need assistance with this process, please contact us at staff@nasgw.org. Note that everyone must have a unique email address.

Thank you for your cooperation!

NSSF Congratulates New ATF Acting Director

NSSF®, The Firearm Industry Trade Association, congratulates Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) Daniel P. Driscoll, whom President Donald Trump appointed to the position today. In addition to serving as Secretary of the Army, Acting Director Driscoll will oversee the bureau that regulates the lawful firearm industry in the United States.

“President Trump’s decision to appoint Acting Director Driscoll is indicative of his resolve to bring reform to the ATF and protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens and the industry that makes it possible to exercise those rights,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel.

Tariffs as the New Normal

As President Trump has long promised, we are now in for a long, protracted series of tariff actions, escalations, pauses, and rescissions. Until a stock market collapse, economic recession, or a mid-term election reversal occurs, manufacturers and distributors will have to navigate great uncertainty around tariffs impacting their businesses. With tariff rates being bandied of 10 to 300 percent or more, the impact can potentially be ruinous for distributors with high tariff exposure, weak strategy, and/or poor execution.

Trump DOJ Creates Second Amendment Task Force to Undo Damage of Biden Era

The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) formally announced the creation of a Second Amendment Task Force with Attorney General Pam Bondi declaring, “It is the policy of the Department of Justice to use its full might to protect the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens.” Bondi noted that for far too long, the Second Amendment has been treated as a second-class right.  The newly assigned duties of this DOJ task force will help bolster NRA’s ongoing efforts that are similarly working to execute strategies, litigation, and robust policy to protect and promote Second Amendment rights nationwide. In a memorandum sent to all DOJ employees, Bondi acknowledged what we already knew too well: “The prior administration placed an undue burden on gun owners and vendors by targeting law-abiding citizens exercising their 2nd Amendment rights.”
