Chairman's Message:

Quick Decision Making in Your Business

Bill-Sumner-Headshot - 400x400

The start of 2025 has been a year of transition. There are big changes everywhere you look, including in D.C. In our industry, there is no doubt that the market is shifting as well.  SCOPE data is trending below last year's numbers, but has continued to provide a window into these market changes. Understanding product distribution trends and how our business compares to the rest of the market has allowed us to make decisions that impact our bottom line.

One way your organizations can adapt to a changing market is by ensuring quick decision making.  As the scale of your organization grows, so does the complexity of decision making.  Whether you call it corporate red tape, the bureaucratic bottleneck, or an organizational roadblock, many businesses can get bogged down when trying to make fast decisions.

SCOPE Transition Update

As mentioned over the last few months NASGW has completed the buyout of our technology partner on the SCOPE platform, meaning NASGW now owns this industry data asset outright. This is a big step for this organization and will allow our team to be more nimble and progressive when it comes to updates, improvements, and automations. With this transition we recently migrated NASGW to a new and improved system. You may have noticed some slight user experience changes or the forced password change. Our team is currently completing this transition which includes remapping some of our data feed. We appreciate your patience as we wrap up this initial step and look forward to getting going on a list of improvements to help streamline your SCOPE experience. Stay tuned for more to come soon.

NSSF Congratulates New ATF Acting Director Kash Patel

The Firearm Industry Trade Association, congratulates Kash Patel who President Donald Trump appointed on Monday as the Acting Director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). In addition to serving as Acting ATF Director, Patel was recently sworn in as the Senate-confirmed Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI).

“President Trump nominated Kash Patel as FBI Director for his unswerving dedication to protecting the Constitution and the adherence to the rule of law. Those same traits serve him well as he carries out President Trump’s plan to reform ATF,” said Lawrence G. Keane, NSSF Senior Vice President and General Counsel. “Like the FBI, the ATF was weaponized by the previous administration. In the case of ATF, it was to carry out a radical gun control agenda. President Trump’s appointment of Acting Director Patel to lead the ATF will return the bureau to its proper role as a law enforcement agency laser focused on combatting violent crime and illegal firearms trafficking, and to act as a non-partisan regulator of the firearm industry.”

Trump’s bold move to strengthen the Second Amendment

President Trump is making good on his promise to defend and strengthen the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens. Just recently, the president signed an executive order, Protecting Second Amendment Rights, which directs Attorney General Pam Bondi to begin a sweeping review of federal firearms regulations and government agency actions that eroded the rights of gun owners during the Biden administration.

The president called the Second Amendment “an indispensable safeguard of security and liberty.”
